Get Peace of Mind As You Launch Your Business Journey
What business or activity requires a governmental license to operate or additional permit or certificate can be confusing and time-consuming to research. Sustainability Management Services acts as an online expediter service that can help you complete your licensing, permitting, and sanitation certificate applications the right way, the first time.
What businesses require a license or permit?
Doctors, Dentists, Pharmacies, Laboratories, Clinics
Every medical practice generating biomedical waste, such as needles, in the state needs a biomedical waste generator permit. *This permit through the State is separate from the biomedical waste transporter that you contract with to pick up your waste and transport it to a treatment facility.
Microblading, Salons, Spas
Cosmetic and semi-permanent tattooing, often referred to as microblading, is still considered tattooing in the State of Florida and must only be preformed in a licensed tattoo establishment by a licensed tattoo artist and the establishment is required to have a biomedical waste generator permit, so the initial application package includes both applications.
This Documentation Package is available for both programs for an additional $229
Body Piercing and Conventional Tattooing
Body piercing studios must be licensed and have a biomedical waste generator permit, so the initial application package includes both applications.
Likewise, tattoo studios must have an establishment license and biomedical waste permit, so the initial application package includes both applications.
*For the initial application package for a new body piercing and tattooing business, all three applications need submitted together.
This Documentation Package is available for all 3 programs for an additional $359
Bars and Food Service
Did you know that the State of Florida has several different agencies that regulate food service? Even ice is considered food, so bars that only serve beverages must obtain a food hygiene permit, which includes Hookah lounges if they sell drinks.
Residential Group Care (Assisted Living Facilities, Detox Centers, Short-term Residential Treatment Centers)
Assisted living facilities, while licensed by the Agency for Health Care Administration (ACHA), still need a sanitation certificate from the Department of Health.
Since residential group care businesses also serve food, the business may also need a food hygiene permit.
If the site provides shots or does finger pricks to check blood sugar levels, a biomedical waste generator permit is required for the business also.
Assistance with ACHA licensure is not available at this time.
Private Schools
While private schools are licensed by the Department of Education, they are still required to have a private school sanitation certificate from the Department of Health.
If the school serves food, it needs a food hygiene permit.
If the school nurse dispenses insulin shots as prescribed by a child’s doctor or other injections, the school needs a biomedical waste generator permit.
Assistance with DOE licensure is not available at this time.
